Meet The Maker
There has always been a drive deep within me to create, and the act of making feeds my soul. Ever since I was young, I spent any moment I could drawing or creating something, with anything I could get my hands on! Whether that was with pencil crayons, paints, cereal boxes or Lego. The medium wasn’t important as long as I could create. This is something that has not changed to this day.
I am grateful to have been raised by supportive parents who taught me to follow my dreams and that nothing is impossible, which lead me to complete a degree in Material Art and Design at OCAD University, majoring in Jewellery and Metalsmithing.
I currently spend my days working full time for a custom jewellery shop as a jeweller and designer. But my love for fibre and textiles has always been a constant, which is why I’m happy to explore expression through macramé in my spare time. I just launched my website and shop in December.
I find inspiration for my work in all that surrounds me, and my eye is drawn to the beautiful details in day to day life. I love the art of expression through line and pattern. I think this is one of the reasons I was drawn to macramé. Many small intricate knots that make up a beautiful work of art. Endless patterns that create a unique feeling or experience.
My hope for my work is to bring texture and life to a space. For me, the act of creating has always been something that connects me with my maker and gives purpose to my life and my work. The satisfaction that only comes from using your hands to create something beautiful fuels me forward, to keep exploring and creating.
Whether in business or in life, I think it is important to follow your passions, no matter what. Everything else will fall into place. The big and the small.
